It all began with an idea, born out of the frustration experienced with existing after school programs, conventional thought and traditional summer computer camps. All the existing after school programs I encountered were either latchkey care, day cares masquerading as schools, or a few select enrichment programs that provided an hour a week foreign language lesson or extended science labs - "Mad Science" ring any bells?

 

The conventional thought shared by most people, is that by the time children reach their middle school age, they are old enough to take care of themselves.  However, if left to their own devices, adolescents might not make the best use of their free time.  I have four teenagers myself, I know this to be the case. Read the "America After 3PM" study commissioned by The After school Alliance and you will uncover some sobering statistics. The following table illustrate the findings:

 

 

These limited options made me think that after school programs can be more than glorified day care and summer computer camps can provide more than video game designs geared primarily towards teen boys. iDaP academy's goal is to provide an experiential learning environment that teaches new skills and exposes children to the latest technology that goes beyond playing and designing video games.  

 

In College, I participated in a program that energized me, exposed me to the dynamics of the business world, and taught the skills that prepared me for the future.
I thought why not distill this program down to its essence and offer it to Fourth Grade through High School Students as an after school curriculum experience and summer campus program that meets the needs of both Parents and Students. 

 

MEET THE TEAM!

The iDaP academy team or as we like to think - the well oiled machine, is made up of the most involved, motivated, and enthusiastic group of people you will ever meet. That may sound verbose but we are proud of the program we have put together and extremely passionate about delivering a different kind of after school experience to the youth of the world.

This is just the beginning. We see tremendous opportunities to grow and expand our programs, but at the heart of it all
are the people. The team that answers the charge to "Rise above the ordinary and think outside the box." It is a challenge we accept and an expectation of our program participants.

 

Our goal is to stoke the entrepreneurial flames of our program participants and provide them with a foundation of skills that are a competitive advantage among their peers. We strive to be the catalyst of creativity and ingenuity.

 

PROGRAM CONSULTANTS

Our Program Consultants are college and industry professionals. They herald from many diverse backgrounds including Education, Marketing, Graphic Design and Information Technology. We use the term Consultant because they do more than teach. Each team member is responsible for delivering the curriculum and managing the program participant teams  (average of 10 participants per team). Program Consultants go through our extensive on-line and in-person training program throughout the year. The environment they work is always changing so we make sure they have the contemporary skills to stay ahead of the game and deliver the best experience to the young adults enrolled in iDaP academy.

TECHNOLOGY GURUS
The Tech Gurus are the unmitigated professionals that know the ins and outs of the software programs used in our technology labs. The Tech Gurus provide instruction in the Graphics, Animation, Production, and Application Development Labs along with support for our website, IT network, and the hardware and software tools for our programs to succeed. Then there’s application development, working with our Strategic Partners to guarantee that the solutions our program participants design actually get produced and developed.

Think of these Team members as the Jedi Council. Our Partners are comprised of iDaP academy Directors,College and University Educators, Technology Vendors, and Business Professionals. They are called upon
to support the company in many capacities. From serving as a guest speaker for a curriculum segment to hosting an early release day field trip. The Strategic Partners keep the iDaP academy programs current
and on the cutting edge while staying true to our mission.

 

 

WE build better programs   We take a different approach to After School Programs. Our interactive digital application programs (iDaP) are designed to be fun and engaging.  Our curriculum is centered on: small group personalized instruction of the core principles by full time consultants, software gurus fluent in the latest software applications in our technology labs, and recreational and team building activities to challenge the body as well as the mind. The ACE Program enables students to experience the latest technology and participate in a program that builds 21st century skills, leadership, and character. More Than just after school enrichment We are distinguished by our approach to enrichment programs. Our programs are unique in delivering an unparalleled foundation of skills not found in any other after school program. The After school Curriculum Experience (ACE) program provides an impressive number of opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience in Marketing, Interactive & Graphic Design, and Mobile Application & Game Development. Our commitment to teaching and youth programs is demonstrated by the enthusiastic response to our programs.   compete to excel   What makes the ACE Program unique is that participants compete as teams in an experiential learning environment working on select projects solving real life business issues. The teams may be asked to develop a mobile application, interactive game, branding solution or even a social media strategy. There isn’t a cookie cutter approach to the solutions the teams provide. Solution are built from the ground up; which makes for some amazing and creative problem solving. The teams apply the principles taught to present their solution at the Project Conference. The Project Conference is at the end of each term where teams present their solutions to proud parents in a multimedia experience that is produced by the students. The iDaP academy ACE program is the only after school program that provides an opportunity to earn flex credits for High School and College, build contemporary skills and participate in an experience that will last a lifetime.
